Subject:A New Girl

Hi! I'm Kate, and if you couldn't tell, I'm new here. Haha, rather obvious. I'm from Orlando and I am a volunteer at Freedom Ride (http://www.freedomride.com). Actually, I have a non-paid internship with the facility manager, but that's just formality for the most part. I've been there for just shy of 6 months and it is one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life.
I really enjoy being at Freedom Ride, working with the horses is a dream come true. I guess that I'm more of a horse person than a people person (although our horses might as well be people, they make great co-workers), but I'm not a total recluse!
I'm looking forward to communicating with others in the equine therapy community.

Subject:Leasing, Leasing, Leasing! ARGH!
Mood: angry

Leasing, Leasing, Leasing
I am getting sick of this. I can not find a leaser for my mare. I am trying to at least find a HALF lease, I am really looking for a FULL LEASER. My mare is absolutely georgous. She has a beautiful head and neck on her. Total muscle. She is a 14 yr. old OTTB, but the only thing that looks like a TB on her is her legs and her butt. Oh and shes got semi-high withers like a TB. Shes got a wide chest and shes built more like a warmblood. I'm not even asking a lot for her lease, and it includes all the tack, blankets, brushes, EVERYTHING... and ride everyday if you wanted to, and it includes lessons. I train at two other barns and have a percheron stallion I need to finish breaking, and I just dont have the time I need for her. She has a great sassy personality, but needs an experienced rider because she has a lot of energy SOMETIMES. Other times I have to ride her with a dressage whip. She is very flashy, and has great knee action, would be great with someone looking to do hunter/jumper or dressage. Great pleasure horse too. I am going to attempt to post pics, but I never have before, and I'm not really sure if I'm doing it right. We are located in Milford, CT. I guess I'm not advertising correctly. I just dont want to pay an arm and a leg to get her pic out on the web. Its not like I'm selling her. Well, let me know if anyone is interested. The black horse is my percheron colt, my mare is the chestnut with a blaze.

Subject:Great Horse Looking for Someone to Love Her!

Okay, I guess I could start off by introducing myself. My name is Dee, I'm almost 20 yrs. old, I'm starting school next month, and I have two horses. I have a 14 yr. old OTTB, and a 17 month old Percheron stud colt. They are my babies.

I have a little problem. I am looking for a full time leaser for my mare. NO INEXPERIENCED RIDERS! My last leaser didnt know what she was doing on a horse, and thought she wanted something she couldnt handle. My mare is at a level now, where she wants to work. She's 16.1hh and a power house. She's ready for someone who is going to get on and actually work her. WTC, maybe some jumping, but not neccessary. She is absolutely gorgeous, and big bodied, like a warmblood. Once I find a leaser I am moving her to a barn with an indoor. Or I will allow an off farm lease as long as the barn isnt too far away and it has an indoor, or all weather footing. I still want to be able to ride her and come see her. I am open to suggestions. She wants to be ridden and I dont have time for her, I am too busy, and I'm going to be even more busy when school starts. I want someone that knows what they are doing so I dont have to worry about her if I cant come see her. I dont want to have to worry that she might not have water or something. I dont think all that is too much to ask.

Its like owning w/o the responsibility. You pay the board, and get to ride whenever you want, she comes with all the tack, blankets, brushes, bathing, EVERYTHING! I am located in CT. Let me know if anyone is interested. Its a great opportunity. Dont pass her up.

Hey I just joined and I thought i would tell ya a little about myself. I am volunteering at The Pikes peak Therapudic Riding Center in Colorado Springs! i joined with them and am now an intern in the office and getting alot of volunteer time as well in many areas. I wanted to do this for as long as i can remeber just took time for me to get off my butt and do something. I will be working to get my certifacation to be a hippotherapy instructor as well as a general instructor in therapudic riding within the next year or so. I will also have my teacher's education in about 2 years. I will hopefully work in the elementary level.

I am excited to be able to communicate with others who share the passion of helping others and working with people and horses.

Hey everyone, I just joined. I have signed up to be a volunteer for the We Can Ride program in Minnesota. I have training next week and I am so excited! It sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Another woman in my riding lesson volunteers with the same program and assured me it is a great time.

My names Erin, I'm 16 and I've been volunteering at Windrush Farm in Boxford MA for two years.

I worked with a group of troubled foster children and dabbled the hippotherpy program.

Its been an amazing experience, building relationships with the kids and watching them grow. I would love to chat about it with other volunteers.

Subject:As a rider of many years, and having worked with disabled children, this makes me sad.

I just had to post this somewhere. Special Olympics of North Carolina are refusing to let a little girl compete in the equestrian competition at the state olympics due to an oversight in her paperwork. I personally think it's unfair to discourage a child who has worked so hard to compete.

The news article is here: http://www.wral.com/news/2301836/detail.html

I've emailed Keith Fishburne, the director of Special Olympics of NC, to express my opinion on the board's decision, and encourage him to change it. If anyone is interested in sending a note to help get this little girl into the competition, Mr. Fishburne can be reached at the following address: kfishburne@sonc.net

Subject:As an introduction I would like to post a poem

I saw a child...
I saw a child who couldn't talk
sit on a horse, laugh and talk
to ride it through a field of daisies
and yet he could not walk unaided.
I saw a child no leg below
sit on a horse and make it go
through woods of green
and places he had never been
to sit and stare, except from a chair.
I saw a child who couldn't crawl
mount a horse and sit up tall
put it through degrees of paces
and laugh at the wonder in our faces.
I saw a child born into strife
take up the reins of life
and that same child was heard to say
"Thank God for showing me the way..."
